Join Moberly Area Council on the Arts for this fun and eclectic performance. You will marvel at the power and beauty that 30 clarinets in unison can produce. From modern to traditional arrangements, the Truman State Clarinet Choir, and director Dr. Jesse Krebs, will delight and awe everyone in attendance. But Truman State is just getting started. The Steel Drum Band, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bump, will get you moving to this unique instrument. Come experience what these drums can do! Students from both ensembles come from all majors, but they all have one thing in common: their love of music.
African Musical Arts presents, “The Songs of Africa Ensemble,” a multi-cultural vocal and instrumental group that teaches Africa’s music, musical instruments, languages, and cultures. Singing in more than 20 different African languages, their performances are audience-interactive, educational, and entertaining!
African Musical Arts is a St. Louis-based non-profit organization whose mission is to foster a better understanding of Africa’s cultures through the musical arts by presenting the music of African descent composers and enriching America’s overall cultural heritage. Come celebrate the magic of Christmas this holiday season! This program features holiday favorites from around the world. Enjoy both sacred and secular music, holiday sing-a-longs, and Mozart’s Toy Symphony featuring Moberly’s finest non-musical talent.
Presented by Moberly’s own Community Choirs and local talent, along with the Missouri Symphony Conservatory and Mid-Missouri’s finest Youth Orchestra program, featuring young musicians from 3rd through 12th grades, this program is for the whole family and will excite, inspire, and fill the hearts of the young and young at heart.
The Magic City Piece Makers will display quilted items ranging in size from table runners to king-size quilts. Also on display is the opportunity quilt, “Hugs and Kisses.” This amazing quilt will be on display at numerous functions throughout the summer and fall and at the MU Extension office. You may purchase a chance to win the “Hugs and Kisses” quilt at the MU Extension office located at 509 W. Reed in Moberly. All proceeds (100%) will benefit the MU Extension office. The winning ticket will be drawn at noon on Saturday, November 10, at the MACC Craft Fair.
The Magic City Piece Makers meet the second Tuesday of every month (except December) at the Moberly branch of the Little Dixie Regional Library in the communications room at 6:30 pm. Under the direction of Greg Pauley, the students engage in creative expression through the art of live performance. Boogie Wonderland is Kansas City’s premier live dance band! This electrifying band performs the greatest disco and dance songs to come out of the past five decades. Featuring songs by Earth, Wind and Fire, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Village People, Bruno Mars, and many, many more, you’re sure to hear your forgotten favorites from long ago! Performing at festivals across the Midwest and making a special appearance at the Summer Concert Series in Branson, Boogie Wonderland is guaranteed to be the highlight event this fall in North Central Missouri! With all these great tunes, we can’t pass up the chance to have a dance contest. Judging will be done by our local celebrities – the MACC Greyhound Cheerleaders. Since no gathering the weekend before Halloween is complete without a costume party, we’ve added one of those too! Dig out your favorite bell bottoms, track suits, and stirrup pants (you know you still have them!) and join us at the Moberly Municipal Auditorium for this fantastic Halloween costume party and dance contest! And ladies, don’t forget the Aqua Net to keep that “big hair” in place while you bust a move.
Moberly Area Council on the Arts is thrilled to bring this exciting “rock and roll with a horn section” band to Randolph County. Norm Ruebling and his band are experts in rhythm and blues, ballads, and rock and roll from the 60’s to more modern numbers. The Shades of Blue Jazz Ensemble is a group of 14 professional enlisted musicians whose repertoire ranges from traditional big band jazz, to bebop and swing, to modern jazz. You are just as likely to hear the music of contemporary composers as you will the classic sounds of Count Basie or Glenn Miller. You may also hear original compositions and arrangements from our very own talented musicians. Bring your favorite veteran and canned good donations to this community event and kick off the Labor Day weekend with great music and a smile on your face knowing you are lending a helping hand to those in need.
Moberly Area Council of the Arts (MACA) invites Randolph County and areas beyond to help us inaugurate our 51st season. Season and individual tickets will be on sale at this performance. MACA is also committed to helping those in need in Randolph County. Throughout the 2018-2019 season, we will be collecting non-perishable items to be donated to local food banks.

He lives near Kansas City with his wife, their two daughters, and a handsome rescue mutt.
