The Moberly Area Council on the Arts recently received notice that it had received a Community Arts Grant through the Missouri Arts Council totaling $8,452. This funding will go toward the support of the 2011-2012 Performing Arts Season. Although the Missouri Arts Council received zero funding from the legislature for FY2012, the legislature approved a spending authority that allows MAC to spend from the balance in the MAC Trust Fund. MACA is grateful for this spending authority which pays for nearly half of the Performing Arts Series.

MACA’s Cocoa and Carols is all new this year with the Brett Family Song of Christmas Show. This talented family delivers a show packed with beautiful Christmas music, stunning costumes, and fantastic production. The Show includes traditional Christmas songs and hymns as well as some non-seasonal favorites from their regular season show. Enjoy original renditions of favorite classics from “White Christmas” to incredible gospel numbers like “Do You Hear What I Hear?”. The Bretts’ uniquely powerful patriotic tribute is unlike any you’ve ever seen. Centered around the theme of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, this mini-play is a moving veteran tribute. The Brett family is currently in their 13th season of performing in Branson. They are well-known for breathtaking harmonies and feel-good, first-class productions. Of course, Christmas cookies and cocoa are expected at this Moberly Christmastime traditional event.
